Rules & safety

Join with awareness.

This challenge is free, open and collective. Read these rules carefully before joining: they protect the group, the city, and your own experience.

01

Free and voluntary participation

Participation in 100kStepsNantes is entirely free, voluntary and open. No signup is required. By joining the group, you accept these rules in full.

02

No official organization

100kStepsNantes is not a supervised event. Apart from communication (WhatsApp group, Instagram, TikTok, this site), there is no official organization, no supervision, no assistance, no refreshments. Each participant takes full and sole responsibility for their participation, their planning, what to bring, and honestly assessing their ability to complete the challenge.

03

Individual responsibility

Each participant takes part under their own responsibility. Organizers provide no individual supervision and cannot be held responsible for any accident, injury, loss or damage occurring during the event.

04

Assess your fitness

Walking for long hours stresses the body. Be honest about your shape, your medical history, your limits. Set a reasonable goal. If in doubt, consult a health professional before joining.

05

This is not a race

There is no timing and no ranking. You don’t owe anyone anything, not even yourself. Respect your pace, respect others. The group naturally stretches out: that’s expected.

06

Respect traffic rules

We walk in the city. We follow traffic lights, crosswalks and the rules that apply to all pedestrians. We don’t block traffic, don’t cut off cyclists, trams or drivers.

07

Awareness in public space

Stay aware of your surroundings: roads, sidewalks, construction works, other users. Respect residents, shops, public places. Leave no trash behind.

08

Water, food, gear

Everyone manages their own water, food, gear and personal breaks. No refreshments are provided by the organizers. Plan generously, especially with water.

09

No medical supervision

There is no doctor, no first-aider, no dedicated assistance on the route. In case of discomfort, injury, exhaustion or unusual pain: stop immediately, alert a relative or call emergency services (15 or 112).

10

Minors

The event is not supervised for minors. A minor can only attend under the full and sole responsibility of a parent or legal guardian, physically present at all times. Organizers do not watch over, accompany or take charge of any minor.

11

Freedom to join and leave

You can join the group at any time and leave at any time, without telling anyone. You remain free to shape the challenge at your own scale.

12

Listen to your body

In case of excessive fatigue, pain, dizziness, unusual shortness of breath: stop. Drink, eat, rest. Nobody will judge you for stopping at 15,000 steps or 80,000.

13

Charged phone

A charged phone is strongly recommended: to follow the group via Instagram and TikTok, to reach your relatives, to call emergency services. Bring a power bank.

14

In case of emergency

Call the appropriate services immediately: SAMU 15, fire brigade 18, European emergency number 112. Your safety and that of others come before everything else.
